engines, 2 water tenders, 1 rescue/salvage vehicle, 1 mini pumper, and
1 command vehicle. The department covers 14.7 sq. miles. Fire Chief
Bill H Eddy started as a volunteer on November 1, 1983 and was
appointed full time Fire Chief on February 1, 2000. The other 26
members of the Gearhart Fire Department are volunteers.
In Gearhart, you'll always know when it's 7:00 o'clock on a
Wednesday evening, that is when the siren will sound and the Fire
Department is called into their weekly drills. The siren will cycle
five times by the tone getting higher then lower when there is a fire.
Should the siren come on and remain steady for three minutes, follow
the signs and head for "HIGH GROUND" this is the signal for a
"TSUNAMI". Evacuation Maps are available at City Hall!
